Carmen is a visual artist working in the medium of photography, video and installation
Carmen was asked to develop a creative art project in Morroco, at the Melchor de Jovellanos' school in Alhucemas, with a group of young women, aged 14 to 16 years old.
The project consisted of delivering a photography workshop activity, together with a field trip to encourage students to take photos and find objects. The intention of the workshop was to create artwork related to their local environment and culture, where the theme of identity was explored. Participants were shown the basic principles of photography and they all worked together to make a large collage made out of images and found objects, incorporating photographs, text and found objects.
This particular project enabled the participants to explore and experiment with something new, and, most of all, have fun.
The outcome of the project was a mural which is now permanently exhibited in the school hall. For more information on the project, please visit http://actividadesjovellanos.blogspot.com/2009/04/taller-de-fotografia-creativa.html

Carmen is currently studying with ArtyBird, undertaking the Artist in Residence qualification.
Carmen's work can also be viewed on her website: www.carmenaleman.com
